The 18th chapter of the Holy Qur’an is entitled Al-Kahf – the Cave, and refers to the cave within which men and their dog were in ‘suspended animation’ for a number of years (309?).

There are three other major themes in the Chapter:

  • Musa (saws) and al-Khidr
  • The ingrate with the two gardens and
  • Dhul-Qarnyan and the dam

Some virtues:

  • whoever memorises 10 verses (some hadith say from the beginning, some say from the end) will be protected from the Dajjal (the Anti-Christ) (another hadith says 3 verses)

  • whoever recites it on Friday shall have a light between that Friday and the next

  • whoever recites it on Friday will have a light from beneath his foot to ‘Aden in the heavens, on the last day

  • whoever recites it on Friday will have his minor sins forgiven between that Friday and the next

  • whoever recites the last 5 verses before going to bed, Allah will send him that night what he wants
